Cardiac Nurse Specialists
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced cardiac nurse to join our well established team at the Royal Derby Hospital. This team is a valuable source of knowledge and resource in Cardiology across the trust, implementing, managing and advising on the care of cardiac patients in numerous settings including the Emergency Department, Medical Assessment Unit, and Coronary Care Unit, in addition to holding a bleep for trust wide contact.
The candidate would be expected to work alongside a team of Cardiac Nurse Specialist’s to support and deliver a continually expanding high standard of expert knowledge and care to cardiac patients who enter the trust. It is essential that the candidate is a Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 years previous cardiology experience. A knowledge of up to date national and local guidelines is essential, as well as being an excellent communicator and team member. The role will involve autonomous working and clinical decision making, implementing trust guidelines as well as providing expert support, knowledge and advice on potentially complex cardiac patients to medical and nursing staff across the trust.
They will be given the support and guidance to fulfil this role and it provides an excellent opportunity for personal development into a specialist nurse role.
To work within agreed role responsibilities escalating clinical issues for appropriate medical review from across the trust.
To provide an expert specialist nursing service.
Receives and prioritises direct referrals to cardiology across the trust. Assess patients with suspected STEMI/ACS and refer to appropriate area.
Provide expert nursing advice and support to patient and carers.
To perform and assist with nurse led clinics
Support for senior team members.
Actively involved in audit and teaching
