What skills and experience we're looking for
The person appointed to the post will:
• be an enthusiast and an inspiration to young people;
• hold an appropriate degree level qualification and a recognised secondary age range teaching qualification;
3. be able to demonstrate a successful track record of teaching Music to at least GCSE level;
• be an experienced teacher with good background knowledge of Key Stages 3 and 4 of the National Curriculum and of its assessment;
• have administrative and organisational skills and be ICT literate;
• have leadership qualities which will enable him or her to take the Music Department forward;
• have an understanding of the learning needs of all students and be able to respond to them;
• be aware of and responsive to current teaching developments within the subject area and to have an overview and understanding of educational developments generally;
• expect and be able to achieve appropriate standards of behaviour and discipline both within and outside the classroom;
• work collaboratively within the Arts Department and with other staff;
• develop and expand the current range of extra-curricular activities associated with the Music Department;
• be in sympathy with the ethos of the School and seek to uphold, develop and enhance the achievements and standards towards which the School works;
13. have the ability to support pupils/respond to parents through fluent and accurately spoken English.

Situated in a recently built area of the school, the department enjoys outstanding facilities including a suite of iMacs, practice rooms and a large workroom. A superb theatre, dance studio and drama area are located in the same block making for a performing arts hub. The school has been awarded the Artsmark Platinum Award, one of only 46 schools nationally, which is testimony to the standard of arts provision at Nunnery.
Nunnery Wood High School is oversubscribed and enjoys a strong reputation in the region.
