To support these ambitions we have established a new CO Digital directorate for the Cabinet Office to build on existing strengths. The Cabinet Office Co Digital directorate is based on six principles to:

The role is part of Enterprise Services within Cabinet Office Digital which provides, maintains and supports the infrastructure, telephony, network, WiFi, end-user devices, cloud capability and software across the entire Cabinet Office estate. Our user base includes the Cabinet Office, Crown Commercial Services, Estates and Government Property Agency.
The Enterprise Services Team is part of Cabinet Office Digital based in the Cabinet Office. It provides, maintains and supports the IT services (hosted and public cloud IT infrastructure, telephony, network security, internet connectivity, local area networks, WiFi, end-user devices, cloud capability and full software portfolio) relied upon by the entire Cabinet Office. Our user base of over ten thousand includes the Cabinet Office, Crown Commercial Services, Government Property Agency and a number of Ministers.
This role is within Network Operations team supporting the Enterprise Services, to lead the Network team and provide product and services including support to the organisation.
As Lead Network Operations Engineer, you will lead a highly skilled team to deliver the product and services to Cabinet office. You will also have the opportunity to work with complex Projects to deliver the optimum results.
Responsibilities
Network Operations and Maintenance
- Oversee the day to day running of the Network infrastructure ensuring integrity, availability, performance and capacity management of Cabinet Office networking infrastructure and requirements;
- Monitor Network health, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they escalate;
- Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis of network related issues and incidents;
- Manage Request for Change forms for internal and supplier change management,Understand risk and impact of changes;
Incident management and response
- Lead the response to Critical Network outages, ensuring minimal downtime;
- Act as an escalation point for complex network issues that other network engineers cannot resolve;
- Work within technical compliance management to co-operate with technologies, such as PSN and Cloud computing etc.
Network Design and Architecture
- Document and configure the management of networking infrastructure; Assisting in the design implementation and optimisation of network infrastructure;
- Provide technical leadership on network refresh projects, upgrades and security improvements;
- Ensure scalability, security and resilience of networking solutions.
Network Performance, and automation
- Identify opportunities for network automation, and efficiency improvements;
- Implement tools and processes for performance tuning, and traffic management;
- Recommend and apply best practices to enhance network performance.
Line Management of Network Team members
- Team Management including recruiting and performance management;
Occasional Travel outside of the London base location may be required.
