Working Pattern: Saturday & Sundays Only, on a Bank Contract. Shifts available: 08:00 - 14:00 14:00 - 20:00 20:00 - 00:00 00:00 - 08:00 (Additional hours may be available on request) With the flexibility to cover St. Charles Centre for Health & Wellbeing, Exmoor Street, London W10 6DZ Principal Duties Maintenance of Vehicles: 1. The driver is responsible for the vehicle in their charge and in particular for ensuring that all sections of the vehicle log sheet is completed at the start and end of each shift. Driver must check: Oil Power steering fluid Brake fluid Screenwash Braking operation Lights Tyres Bodywork Medical equipment located in the vehicle 2. It is the drivers responsibility to do minor vehicle servicing i.e. change of brake, sidelight and headlight bulbs, wiper blades, change wheel if flat tyre. Replenish oil, water, brakefluid, screenwash. 3. It is the responsibility of the driver to report any faults to the Operations Supervisor as per Vehicle log sheet/written protocols. 4. The driver is required to maintain all log sheets at all times, accurately recording journeys, mileage and priorities of calls. 5. In the event of a breakdown/accident, the driver must follow procedures per written protocols. 6. All accidents must be reported immediately to on-call manager as per protocol. 7. The driver must return the vehicle to a designated parking space on return to base and complete Vehicle log sheet/checks as per protocol. Driving duties 1. It is a legal requirement that whilst driving the postholder will wear a seatbelt at all times and must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs whilst on shift. It is also a legal requirement that the driver does not use the mobile phone whilst driving. 2. The driver will be required to collect passengers, usually doctors, on occasions from other sites and drive them to their destinations around the geographical areas of LCW Out of Hours service . 3. Wait and return the passengers to their base or alternative destination. The driver will be required to carry medical equipment for the doctor and it is the drivers responsibility to return any items as per checklist back to base. 4. The Driver will act as an escort to the clinician, as requested to do so and accompany the clinician into the patients home. The Driver will also be required to respond to any urgent request by the clinician for equipment or assistance. At times the Driver may be requested to contact Main base or urgent ambulance services at the request of the clinician. 5. The driver will also be required to collect and deliver ad-hoc items, such as packages, pharmaceuticals etc. 6. It is the drivers responsibility to find the most appropriate route for all journeys, with use of maps and other information available. 7. Parking restrictions must be obeyed at all times. Drivers must ensure that all aspects of the Highway code must be obeyed at all time, in particular traffic signals and speed limits. 8. In respect of any traffic accident involving the vehicle, to complete the traffic accident report before leaving the site of the accident and to complete report immediately on return to base. Notification must be given to the relevant manager immediately. Failure to report any accident will constitute gross misconduct. 9. To report any driving endorsements and change of personal details immediately to the Operations Supervisor . It is the drivers responsibility to report any changes in their health and fitness, which may affect their performance as a driver. It is also a requirement that the driver attends annual health checks at the Occupational Health Department. 10. It is expected that drivers must maintain regular contact with the base by whichever communications medium available in the car. Drivers must confirm receipt of data transferred to the vehicle with the base. Drivers must clear with the despatcher/manager before returning the vehicle to base. 11. Drivers will be required to support despatcher/telephonist with clerical/administration work. 12. Drivers will be assessed and cross-trained to cover reception/ telephones/despatch following a short induction period. 13. Drivers will be expected to attend core-training sessions/days in relation to the post on an annual basis. 14. To undertake any other duties as required by the manager. 15.
