A Vacancy at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
**Fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity until 09/05/2026**
The Plastic Surgery Out-patient nursing team is a friendly and dynamic group working within the busy Plastic Surgery Outpatients Department. We are looking for a band 5 registered nurse to join the team in a highly valued role where you will be directly involved in the assessment, care provision and treatment of a diverse range of pre and post Plastic Surgical wounds. The successful candidate will form part of our nursing team in our nurse led dressing clinic, and have the opportunity to work alongside our sub-surgical specialities and the wider multiprofessional team within Plastic Surgery
Our patients’ ages range from 0 to 100+ and we cover all body sites. We work closely with other specialities such ENT, Head and Neck, General Surgery, Orthopaedic and Urology where free tissue transfers, or skin grafting is needed to cover a defect due cancer surgery or trauma. In addition, we treat minor burns which can be managed locally.
If you have an interest in wound care, and the holistic approach involved in wound healing, this fixed term contract, or secondment would be the ideal opportunity to learn more about wound care in Plastic Surgery and the complex wound we treat. The role would support you in expanding your knowledge in this interesting field and help you grow valuable skills in wound care which are transferable to other specialities.
The post holder will provide a high standard of general and specific care for an identified client group within plastic surgery specialty. This is a unique opportunity to develop wound care knowledge and skills and gain insight into the vast patient group that plastic surgery is involved in treating.
The post holder will be able to deliver elements of health and social care and undertake clinical work. They will have the opportunity to develop the underpinning knowledge with in-department learning from their registered nursing team colleagues and use this knowledge to expand their skills to care for more complex surgical wounds.
To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence.
