A Vacancy at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) has recently had business case approval to expand its services and we are looking to recruit one forward-thinking and motivated individual to join our team of Acute Medicine Consultants delivering our Acute Medicine services. These posts present an excellent opportunity for experienced clinicians with a comprehensive understanding of acute medicine to join our dynamic team committed to the delivery of the highest standard of care.
The Acute Medicine service is an integral part of the Trust’s Medicine Division, providing care for a range of acutely unwell patients across our Acute Assessment Units and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan.
The successful applicants will join colleagues to continue the exciting developments improving the delivery of care to these acutely unwell medical patients within the settings of Medical Assessment Unit or Bryn Ward. Specialist interest will be accommodated eg. Respiratory, Cardiology, or Diabetes clinics, teaching and education sessions at Edge Hill University can also be considered.
These roles will require you to work across all areas in the Trust which includes those that are designated as positive, asymptomatic and negative COVID wards
An attractive joining package will be available, the details of which are to be agreed with the successful candidates but this is subject to approval.
The successful applicants will support the delivery of high-quality acute care across the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary. The post is for three new substantive appointments for full time Acute Physicians (10 PAs each, 2 additional PAs to be considered). Responsibilities include:
• Providing high quality consultant-delivered care to patients
• Ensuring patient safety, dignity and care are given the highest priority
• Being proactive in ensuring that patients receive rapid assessment, treatment and clinical decision making
• Undertaking clinical leadership and supervision, teaching and training of junior medical staff
• Liaising with clinicians and managers to address any issues arising that may affect the services
• Contributing to the ongoing development of the acute medicine services at WWL
• There may be opportunities to pursue an area of specialist interest, eg developing new services or pathways
