A unique opportunity has arisen and Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an experienced, dynamic and innovative person to manage the neurophysiology service at Royal Preston Hospital.
We are looking for an experienced leader with a clinical background in Neurophysiology, you will be an enthusiastic, organised person who is well motivated and has proven technical and communication skills and a zest for providing excellence.
The department is a busy, friendly team of staff who provide a Neurophysiology service across Lancashire and South Cumbria.
You will be responsible for leading the Neurophysiology service and is expected to haveexcellent leadership qualities and be able to manage implementation of change effectively.You will be involved in the planning and future development of the serviceand will have a strong understanding of the effective and efficient use of resources.
Most importantly, we require a proven track record in service delivery and improvement that is focused on patient safety, patient experience and excellent clinical outcomes.
You will be able to perform the full range of Neurophysiological investigations and will have experience in performing and reporting Peripheral Nerve Conduction studies as we continue to extend the technician role.
You will have overall responsibility for managing the service and will work closely with the Consultant Neurophysiologists and the Highly Specialist Clinical Physiologists to provide a high quality service
The job is based at the Preston hospitals but a need to work at other hospitals is a possibility.

The Neurosciences Centre, based at The Royal Preston Hospital, comprises both Neurosurgery and Medical Neurosciences (Neurology, Neurophysiology, Neurorehabilitation). Allied neurosciences specialties are also on site (Neuropathology, Paediatric Neurology, Neuropsychology
We employ over 10,000 staff with most of our clinical services being provided on our two hospital sites – Chorley & South Ribble Hospital and Royal Preston Hospital. We provide a full range of general hospital services to people in Preston, Chorley and South Ribble, including:

• Support services for diagnosis and treatment such as pathology, x-ray, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and specialist nurses.
To have overall management responsibility for the technical and clerical services in Neurophysiologyto ensure the provision of a high qualityeffective serviceto patients attending the Neurophysiology Department of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, ensuring the highest standard of patient careand ensuring the service is subject to regular and systematic audit.
Be responsible for the management of the department budget and delivery of efficiency savings
Be responsible for the delivery of activity, waiting list and waiting time targets
To deliver a cohesive service in conjunction with the section leads
To work with the directorate management team supporting the continual improvement of the service addressing the need for change in clinical practice and service developments
To be responsible for the efficient and effective management of resources within the Neurophysiology service.
To provide specialist advice to the Clinical Director / Speciality Business Manager on professional Neurophysiology issues and developments
Undertakes specialist and advanced clinical physiological tests in Neurophysiology; analyses test results, reports on outcomes and advises clinicians
To perform all neurophysiology investigations in line with department procedures to the expected department standards.
To ensure all the service needs for the department are met, taking action to redress any problems
To be responsible for all learning activity within the Neurophysiology departments
To be visible and accessible to staff, patients and relatives and provide support for them in the clinical environment
To coordinate and take part in research projects and CPD
Undertake training of staff from both within and outside the department.
