Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Overhead Crane Operator to join our team in the glass industry. The primary responsibility of this role is to operate an overhead crane to unload glass float liners and efficiently store large glass packs (3210 x 2550mm) using a grab attachment. The operator will ensure safe and accurate handling of glass materials while adhering to industry safety standards and maintaining the quality of the product.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate an overhead crane to unload large glass float liners and store them in designated areas.
Use the crane’s grab attachment to securely offload glass packs (3210 x 2550mm) from trucks or other delivery vehicles.
Ensure that all glass materials are handled safely and accurately, avoiding damage to the products.
Maintain an organized and efficient workflow in the storage areas, ensuring proper stacking and storage of glass packs.
Perform daily pre-operation inspections on the crane, including checking for any mechanical issues or safety hazards.
Follow safety protocols and industry standards for glass handling and crane operations to minimize the risk of accidents.
Communicate with team members and supervisors to coordinate unloading and storage tasks.
Ensure that the loading/unloading areas are kept clean and free of debris.
Maintain accurate records of the materials unloaded and stored, reporting any discrepancies.
Adhere to company policies and safety regulations at all times, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications:
Proven experience as an overhead crane operator, preferably in the glass or manufacturing industry.
Certification in crane operation or relevant safety training (OSHA, NCCCO, or equivalent).
Ability to operate cranes with grab attachments safely and efficiently.
Experience with unloading and handling large glass packs (3210 x 2550mm or similar) is preferred .
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety procedures.
Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
Flexibility to work different shifts.
