We have opportunity for a full-time, permanent Floating Support worker to join our team in providing support to individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness in the Newport area.
It is essential that the successful candidate has a driver's license and access to a vehicle.
What is great about the role?
This is a varied, fast paced role where you will have the chance to work with a variety of people from different backgrounds and change people’s lives by working with us and our experienced team of Floating Support Workers.
You will have autonomy to structure your week to ensure the very best support is provided for your clients. You will also be working closely with other services and agencies to ensure that the people we support receive support tailored to their needs.
This is a highly rewarding role where you see those wins when someone you have supported has achieved something or you have got a grant for someone or see someone settle into a home when they have previously had a rough time.
Key responsibilities:
Managing your own caseload and electronic diary
Following safe working practices, such as the Lone working policy
Travelling to the people we support’s homes, or neutral venues where identified and agreed
Engaging and interacting positively with the people we support to establish goals to work towards
Providing support, advice and guidance on finances, health, welfare benefits, housing options, digital inclusion and tenancy management skills
Working with external agencies and signposting the people we support to the appropriate services suited to their needs
Our aim is to ensure we equip the people we support with the knowledge and tools they need to help them manage their home independently. This is a challenging role and you may be faced with complex situations and difficult conversations, behaviours and needs. Therefore, you will need to be organised, well prepared and creative. The ideal candidate will have some experience of providing one to one support to people in a housing support related environment.
