This is a new and exciting opportunity for someone with a keen interest in politics to support the elected members of the Conservative group and Official Opposition in Salford. As a Political Assistant your role will involve providing Councillors with day to day assistance with a focus on analysis of information and administrative skills.
Key responsibilities within this role will be to
- Engage in high quality research with relevance to the ambitions of the group, through communication with internal and external groups (such as Conservative Headquarters (CCHQ),Local Government Association (LGA) and the Conservative Councillors Association (CCA). Obtaining information on policy, as well as facts and figures relevant to the group and its members.
- Utilise information collected through effective research to draft guidance notes, motions or questions which will be used to inform the group members meetings and speeches.
- Maintain an understanding of both the local and national political landscape, with a particular focus on views and matters that resonate with the values of the group, whilst maintaining a knowledge of ongoing political actions and decisions within Salford Council.
- Support the group and its members to engage with the community through Social Media and online platforms.
- Draft Press Releases and speech notes.
