Summary

Assessing nuclear implicated concessions, design changes and organisational changes to ensure that nuclear safety is adequately considered against the requirements of the relevant Safety Case, codes and standards.

Supporting the Naval Base SME for Organisational change and capability where this may influence the Nuclear Baseline, acting as the Executive Secretary and the Deputy Chair of the Nuclear Training & Qualifications Sub Committee (NTQSC) and Deputy Executive Secretary of the Organisational Capability Committee.

Undertaking Independent Peer Reviews of Naval Base Site Safety Justification Authorisation documentation at Devonport to ensure that the documentation is technically correct, arguments are valid and complies with the expectations of modern safety case methodologies.

Planning, preparing and reviewing BNSO sponsored nuclear implicated Level 2 Naval Base Business Procedures that assure nuclear safety operations at HMNB(D).

Reviewing (including internal audit) of the nuclear and quality management aspects of nuclear implicated Naval Base Business Procedures including those prepared by other NBC Directorates. Therefore, assuring NBC’s overall safety management systems’ continued compliance with AC17 and the Quality Management System Requirements.

Supporting SSE(A) in maintaining the NBC/DRDL interface by facilitating the nuclear interface arrangements, particularly in support of Nuclear Training (FAC 1).

Acting as the focal point for the Definition of the Nuclear Baseline document.

Providing support to the Nuclear Emergency Response Organisation in a duty roster agreed with your line manager.

To act as Nuclear Safety & Governance Committee technical secretary as directed by NSA including management of submitted documentation and independent member contracts. Provide comments to authors of submitted documentation, in accordance with NBBP 57.
