The Package
Starting salary: £7.55 - £12.21 per hour (National Minimum Wage, dependent on age)
Paid overtime available
Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday
160 hours annual leave + bank holidays
A day off on your birthday!
1 bonus day of leave for every 5 years of service

What will I be doing as an Injection Moulding Technician Apprentice?
The Injection Moulding Technician Apprentice supports in maintaining production efficiency within the Injection Moulding Department at Peerless Coatings. This role involves setting up, changing tools, optimising, and operating injection moulding machinery for UK and export distribution. The apprentice will ensure safe working practices and upholding company core values.

As an apprentice, your key responsibilities will include:

Machine Operation:
Learn to operate injection moulding machines safely and efficiently.
Start and stop machines according to production requirements.
Adjust machine settings to optimize production.

Tool Handling:
Prepare tools and equipment for production runs.
Learn to set up and change molds.
Learn to sling and lift tools using cranes.

Quality Control:
Perform visual and mechanical quality checks to ensure production meets standards.
Identify and report any quality issues.

Material Knowledge:
Learn about different types of plastics and their properties.
Understand how material properties affect the molding process.

Safety and Maintenance:
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Learn about basic machine maintenance procedures.
Follow all safety protocols and procedures.

Training and Guidance:
Receive training from experienced setters and technicians.
Potentially provide guidance to other operators.

This role provides hands-on experience, training, and career development opportunities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

About You

To thrive in this apprenticeship role at Peerless Coatings, you will need:
A willingness to learn about how injection moulding machines work.
Basic knowledge or willingness to learn Health and Safety regulations in a manufacturing setting.
Willingness to take on various tasks to help ensure everything runs smoothly in the factory.
Basic computer skills for keeping track of records and information.
Self-motivation to work independently and as part of a team, ensuring products are made to the right standards.
Flexibility to work varied shifts and take on different roles as needed.

Please note, because of the nature of this position, you must be aged 17+ and live within a 45 minute commute to site!

As a training provider, we are committed to ensuring that our apprenticeship programs deliver significant new knowledge and skills. To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate that the program will provide learning and experiences beyond their current qualifications and professional expertise.

If you already hold a Level 3, degree or equivalent higher-level qualification in a closely related field, or possess substantial relevant experience, you may not be eligible for apprenticeship funding, as these programmes are designed for individuals who require upskilling or reskilling in their chosen career pathway.

You’ll need to be over 17, not in full time education, have lived in the UK for 3 years and have the right to work in the UK.
