We are looking for a full time , hard working, highly motivated and experienced Phlebotomist to work at Milton Keynes Renal Unit. Milton Keynes Renal Unit is a Satellite Unit of Oxford Kidney Unit and provides an Outpatient Service of Haemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis and Renal Clinics for patients in Milton Keynes and some part of Buckinghamshire.









• To take venous bloods safely from patients on the outpatient Clinic and dialysis unit if needed.
• To check the identity of the patient, ensure than any special instructions have been followed (e.g. period of fasting) and to gain patients consent to proceed.
• To take venous blood of good quality using aseptic techniques and ensuring minimum of pain and discomfort to the patient.
• To make sure samples arrive at the labs safely
• To work within a team and also lone working,
• To work using the EPR system and ICE.
• To work in an efficient manner to ensure the phlebotomy work is completed in the best practical time.
• To obtain and keep up to date with all learning
• To ensure that safe working practises are maintained in the interests of both staff and patients according to Trust and Departmental policies
• To co-operate with strategies to reduce cross infection
• To make judgements regarding the viability of taking blood.
