Warrington & Vale Royal College is seeking to appoint a full time Director of Curriculum Construction Trades. The successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership and management of Construction trades curriculum; ensuring outstanding teaching, learning, assessment and student success are achieved whilst maximising student recruitment and growth.

Job Purpose

To be responsible for the leadership and management of Construction trades curriculum; ensuring outstanding teaching, learning, assessment and student success are achieved whilst maximising student recruitment and growth.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership

• Achieve outstanding achievement rates and positive student destinations.
• Provide outstanding leadership, developing, implementing and monitoring operational and improvement plans in line with the College strategic aims and priorities.
• Ensure high quality teaching, learning and assessment.
• Map the external environment, leading on key curriculum developments to ensure a robust strategic plan for the area.
• Ensure all income and expenditure targets are met in line with budget requirements.
• Ensure a culture within the team in line with the College’s values, behaviours and professional standards.
• Ensure curriculum self-assessment is timely and impactful and action plans are developed, implemented and monitored.
• Manage change in an open and professional manner.
• Ensure the good reputation of the area, via strong employer relationships and representing the College at both internal and external events.
• Actively promote equality of opportunity and diversity.

Curriculum

• Ensure that all targets for recruitment, retention, attainment, achievement, value added, progression and student satisfaction are achieved or exceeded.
• Manage the process and operation of self-assessment and quality improvement planning and contribute to the overall college self-assessment and improvement planning.
• Undertake rigorous reviews of teaching, learning and assessment including learning walks and assessment audits, ensuring the drive for continuous improvement.
• Plan and manage a responsive curriculum in line with College plans which meets students’ expectations and needs.
• Foster a culture of innovation, leading on the use of new technologies across the curriculum.
• Provide and use data in a timely manner to make effective interventions.
• Ensure the effective management of business processes, for example, timetabling, rooming, staff utilisation, etc.

Qualifications

• Appropriate academic qualifications including a combination of honours degree/professional qualification/higher degree.
• Teaching qualification.
