Behaviour Support Specialist - Junior School Setting, Pontefract
Are you someone that really enjoys supporting children with additional needs? Do you have the resilience and skills to make a real difference in a school setting? We are currently looking for a Behaviour Support Specialist to join a great team of educators at a junior school in Pontefract.
This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible for the right person, working as a member of support staff with children presenting behavioural challenges. The school itself have a strong team who are all on a journey to support the success for the children, they always uphold high expectations across every aspect of school life, fostering a culture of quality, dedication, and aspirational thinking. They have clear procedures and have faith in every child and encourage them to aim for excellence through self-belief and determination.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide support for children presenting with challenging behaviour.
· Work closely with children with Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH), ADHD, and Autism.
· Develop and implement tailored strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
· Support children in building resilience, social skills, and emotional regulation
· Collaborate with staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for the children.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
· Have experience working with children with SEMH, ADHD, and Autism.
· Demonstrate resilience and a calm, patient approach to challenging situations.
· Be passionate about making a positive impact in children's lives.
· Have excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with both children and colleagues.
· Be proactive, adaptable, and solution-focused.
