The Team consists of 9 consultants, 3 specialist trainees, junior doctors, specialist nurses and allied health professionals who are responsible for providing tertiary level care to patients with pituitary, thyroid, adrenal and other hormone-related diseases. The department provides a large, highly progressive diabetes technology service and is the only specialist bariatric center in the region.

Salford Royal Hospital is also one of the largest referral centers in the United Kingdom for neurosciences/pituitary surgery and is a regional service for specialist endocrine surgery.

This appointment will be for a 10 PA contract and will be made on the new Consultant Doctor contract with a suitable job plan arranged in conjunction with the Clinical Director.

The Job Description indicates the main duties of the post, which may be reviewed in the light of experience and developments within the service. Any review will be undertaken in conjunction with the post holder.

Our Diabetes and Endocrinology consultants are responsible for providing specialist care in an inpatient setting as well as specialty outpatient clinics in acute and community locations.

The ideal candidate will be innovative, forward thinking and supportive to developing an all-encompassing integrated service to support the residents of Salford across primary and secondary care. The Department is also committed to quality improvement projects which can form the basis of publications and presentations at national conferences. In addition to furthering professional development with respect to clinical aspects of Diabetes and Endocrine medicine, there will also be opportunities to furthering skills as a medical educator in relation to delivering supervision and support for all specialty medicine trainees.
