Data, analysis and insight are key to understanding and addressing complex systems within policy and service delivery. As Head of Analysis, you’ll lead our data analysis, research, and behavioural science function ensuring robustness of our research practices and theory of change models across the TL&G team. You’ll be responsible for the strategic leadership of our research practice. This role aligns with the Principal Data Analyst role in the Government Digital and Data framework, however, we are additionally looking for broader research and evaluation skills, too. You will build data and insights capabilities and assure, develop and innovate good data, research and evaluation practices.
You will work with the Head of Design on design/qualitative research methods, participatory design and trauma-informed practice where applicable.
This role will require travel within the UK to work closely with local partners.

Responsibilities
You will:
- Be a strategic data, analysis and insights leader who is able to lead a group of data analysts and quantitative research professionals working across the programme;
- Provide leadership and guidance on specific data and quantitative research approaches within individual projects (which are likely to be highly complex);
- Work collaboratively with others and use analysis and research to influence others; for example, policy colleagues, the wider programme, or place-based partners;
- Create credibility with our place-based partners, advocating for better data practices and capability whilst being sensitive to their challenges around resources;
- Be an expert in experimentation and evaluation ensuring our work is grounded in evidence with measurable outcomes;
- Develop ways of working and develop practice standards within the context of our teams and programme;
- Collate and contribute evidence to inform TL&G strategy, objectives and priorities;
- Connect to and work strategically with the wider community of data analysts and researchers across government.
