A Vacancy at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Neonatal Nurse to take on the role of Lead discharge co-ordinator/ safeguarding link nurse within the Specialist nursing team.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Hull University Teaching Hospital is a Level 3 Tertiary Unit within the Yorkshire Neonatal Network. NICU has 29 cots 7 of which are Intensive Care, 10 High Dependency and 12 Special Care.
We are a large, supportive and very friendly team which prides itself on offering excellent care to the vulnerable babies on the unit. We provide care for babies of 22 weeks’ gestation and above, which includes a variety of both medical and surgical conditions. We offer a full range of ventilation techniques including High Frequency Oscillation and Nitric Oxide Therapy. We also provide Therapeutic Hypothermia treatment and neonatal surgery.
The successful applicant will play a vital role within the team and in conjunction with the lead Nurse SCBU and Transitional care lead nurse will have a substantial voice in the day to day management of discharge planning and more crucially the co-ordination of Safeguarding within the Unit.
You must possess good communication, leadership and team building skills. The post holder must hold a Neonatal Specialist qualification (or willingness to undertake dependent on other experience/ skills relevant to the role).
The post holder will work as part of the Neonatal team facilitating the safe discharge of patients in line with Neonatal guidelines and trust policies.
Working in partnership with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to actively ensure that from admission any relevant medical/social history is collected from family members or MDT and therefore be able to ascertain what support families may need both during admission and follow up in the community.
With a sound knowledge of safeguarding, the discharge co-ordinator will lead on Safeguarding detection and work alongside the neonatal team and safeguarding Children’s team to provide safety in preparation for discharge within the Neonatal services.
