Summary


We require a SLT Assistant to join our friendly department of SLT providing the speech and language therapy service to Hounslow Borough.

The post holder will support the qualified adult Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) team in the delivery of care and management of service provision in accordance with national and local priorities, organisational policies, procedures and guidelines and in accordance with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
To undertake communication and dysphagia treatment plans under the supervision of a qualified SLT, feeding back all relevant information.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The post holder will: -

• Clinical Skills
• To devise and implement specific therapy programmes for adults after the Therapist has indicated the adult's area of need, and in liaison with lead clinician. Therapy programmes may be tailored to the individuals specific needs.
• To deliver communication therapy programmes and education sessions set by the SLT team in a range of settings including patients’ homes, clinics and online
• To assess an adult's response to therapy and make judgements on when to progress.
• To provide advice and strategies on factors which may exacerbate or ameliorate communication and/or swallowing difficulties in adults.
• To carry out dysphagia screening follow up checks.
• To plan groups with other team members, and run groups independently within specialist skill areas.
• To provide advice to other professionals and carers regarding the management and care of adults with communication difficulties.
• To demonstrate comprehensive skills in administering assessments within specialist area e.g. for AAC, Parkinson’s communication screening, aphasia etc.
