During your apprenticeship, you will be supervised and line managed by the Associate Audiologist and Audiologists whilst working towards the following duties of the Assistant Audiology Practitioner role: This role is to support adult hearing aid users and people with hearing loss who may not wear hearing aids by: carrying our hearing aid servicing, repairs and maintenance. Providing rehabilitation advice to people with hearing loss and hearing aid users. Taking ear impressions for hearing aid users and those who require ear defenders and swim moulds. Giving advice and carrying out follow up for patients using the telephone or video. Giving advice and demonstration of assistive listening devices. Carrying out administration duties that include, postal batteries and repairs, printing and sending out written information for patients, or sending electronic information. Carrying out stage A check on audiology equipment on a daily basis. Maintaining stock supplies in the repair and clinic rooms on a daily basis. Basic assessment of hearing using an audiometer (and tympanometer) Assisting clinicians in assessment clinics, including paediatrics, adults with additional needs, occasionally in balance clinics. Assist on domiciliary visits to patients homes and on the hospital wards at Wythenshawe hospital.
