We have an exciting opportunity to lead the development of a new IT system and service to implement the provisions of the Water Special Measures Bill. We are looking for individuals with a strong track record in consulting and collaborating with others to understand and deliver business IT needs and opportunities. You will work closely with our IT delivery programmes and external contractors in developing the system and embedding it in the business, ensuring it is aligned with wider strategic initiatives and upstream and downstream data processes.
This is a high-profile work area which will improve our regulation of the water industry, across water quality and water resources. You will be part of the Water Regulation team who are currently engaged in a variety of initiatives to modernise how we regulate. Your work will form a key part of the team effort to ensure a smooth transition to new systems and technologies.
The team
The roles will sit within the Water Regulation Digital Innovation team, within the national Water regulation function of the Environment Agency, which sets the priorities and shapes our approach to delivering environmental outcomes and better regulation.
We work closely with colleagues across the Environment Agency, with Government, delivery partners and customers to help create a better place for people and wildlife and demonstrate value for money.
Experience/skills required
You’ll have experience of leading or playing a major role in the development of new IT systems and data management. You will be able to demonstrate operational understanding of leading a fast paced project/programme. Knowledge of Water Regulation and existing data systems/reporting supporting the business is desirable but not essential.
You will be a highly effective communicator and an experienced influencer with an adaptive style who can advocate positively for change. You will have experience in creating, prioritising and tracking lists of business IT requirements.
You’ll be able to act as a confident client, ensuring our needs are understood and met by our delivery partners.
