CC Continental Supermarket was founded in 1979, in Chapeltown, Leeds and for the past 40 years we have provided customers with foods from around the world. We specialist in Afro-Caribbean foods, South-Asian foods along with fresh halal meat & poultry and fresh fruit and vegetables.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Butcher to oversee and manage our meat section with expertise and precision.

Butcher – 45 hours per week. Work Premises would be our office location.

Salary can be negotiated at the time of interview. (£33,000-£38,000 per annum)

ESSENTIAL SKILLS
• Familiarity with the rules of Halal slaughter, including reciting the appropriate prayers and ensuring the animal is treated with respect and care.
• Proficiency in using a sharp knife to make a swift, clean cut to the throat, severing the jugular vein, carotid artery, and windpipe in one motion.
• Maintaining cleanliness of tools, work surfaces, and the environment to meet both Halal and general food safety standards.
• Skills in cutting, deboning, and preparing meat while adhering to Halal guidelines.
• Minimum 5 Years of experience in a relevant role is essential.

TASKS
• Processes animals by slaughtering and removing skin, hide, hair, internal organs, and other parts.
• Cuts or saws carcasses into smaller, manageable sections.
• Trims away bones, gristle, excess fat, rind, and waste materials.
• Slices carcass sections into chops, joints, steaks, and other saleable cuts.
• Prepares meat for curing or additional processing.
• Cleans and sanitizes tools and work surfaces to maintain hygiene standards.
