Description
The Street Works Inspector (SO2) plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the safety and effectiveness of our urban infrastructure. Working closely with roads, transport, and public works teams, the Street Works Inspector is responsible for ensuring compliance with national regulations and local policies regarding street works. This position involves inspecting and monitoring various street works activities, including road excavations, installations, and maintenance operations, ensuring they are carried out to the highest standards and in accordance with the necessary permits and regulations. The inspector will collaborate with utility companies, contractors, and the public to resolve any issues or concerns that may arise during these operations. Additionally, the Street Works Inspector will contribute to improving the quality of street works across our community, providing expert advice and support. This role requires a keen eye for detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders. Responsibilities
Inspect ongoing street works to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and safety standards.
Review and process street works permits and applications from contractors and utility companies.
Conduct site visits and assessments to monitor the progress and quality of ongoing work.
Liaise with construction teams, contractors, and the public to address concerns and provide guidance.
Prepare detailed reports about inspections, compliance issues, and any necessary follow-up actions.
Ensure that all street works sites are properly signed and that traffic management is effectively implemented.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to street works inspections and compliance assessments.
Requirements
Proven experience in a similar role or within the street works sector.
Strong understanding of street works legislation and local government regulations.
Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to communicate effectively with contractors, public and other stakeholders.
Proficient in report writing and documentation practices.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Relevant certification or training in street works inspection or construction safety is a plus.
Hours Per Week: 35.00
Start Time: 09:00
End Time: 17:00
