Crynodeb

The Kinlochleven Community Trust and NHS are partnering to trial a progressive community-led plan to better mental health and well-being through nature-based activities. The role involves delivering and organising activities, events, information with the support of external providers and nurturing partnerships. Training available and encouraged.

This flexible and exciting job aims at implementing a pilot action plan co-designed by the community, NHS and KCT to develop community supported pathways into nature-based health & wellbeing activities.

The project aims to:

  • Re-establish activities and develop new ones to support better mental health and wellbeing,
  • Increase the number of participants joining these activities,
  • Improving mental health and wellbeing outcomes for the participants,
  • Build community resilience and cohesion by increasing information and signposting support available,
  • Improve wider knowledge and understanding of mental health and the skills to support better well-being at a community level and
  • Test a model of community-led pathways.

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating and implementing the Stepping Stones Action Plan (available upon request),
  • Developing partnerships with local groups and service providers to consolidate the local support network,
  • Delivering activities (health walk, buggy walk, themed activities etc.) and/or any activities the post holder would judge relevant (training is available),
  • Organising external providers to deliver additional activities,
  • Increasing access to resources and information, populating notice boards, KCT website and social media,
  • Coordinating training & community networking events,
  • Coordinating and co-designing the development of resources,
  • Embedding Mental Health and Well-being in every relevant community project (Family Hub, Promoting our Heritage with the Lochaber Archive, Woodland Project, Secret Garden etc.),
  • Evaluating the impact of the project through data gathering and reporting (training and support available).

Systems

The post holder is required to:

  • Plan, monitor and report on project deliverables and outcome,
  • Manage the budget for the programme,
  • Utilise systems to provide evaluation reports of programme/ activities undertaken, to assess impact of activity, including collating case studies,
  • Meet at least monthly with their line manager.

Communication & Relationships

The post holder is expected to communicate and build relationships with:

  • Members of the public including children and young people, volunteers, service users and carers,
  • Voluntary and third-sector organisations,
  • National and local networking groups and forums,
  • Community Support Services,
  • Higher Education institutions,
  • The private sector,
  • The media and press, and
  • Continuing and developing networks within the locality.

Travel expenses for the job purpose are included to access community skill exchange workshops or training further afield.
