The post holder will be responsible for the line management of the Sterile Services Supervisors, Team Leaders, and Technicians in the production function of the decontamination unit.
You will ensure a reliable, technically sound, and effective service to our service users and ensure that all products received are checked, disinfected, packaged, and sterilised according to the department's quality systems, work instruction documents, and customer requirements and that all products that leave the department are fit for purpose.
The post holder will have day to day responsibility for ensuring service users are supplied with sterile medical devices and other sterile procedure packs in the quantities and at the level of quality that is specified.
The post holder will directly support the management in providing highly specialised services delivered from the centralised Sterile Service Unit at St Thomas' Hospital. These services are provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and therefore the post holder will be required to work evening and night shifts on a rotational basis.
The successful applicant will have good IT skills with experience using Microsoft Office and all the Electronic Systems used within Sterile Services. To ensure sterile medical devices are produced in accordance with European and UK legislation and other regulatory standards (e.g. The Medical Devices Directive 92/43 EEC) and to ensure statutory requirements and codes of safe practice are maintained.

We are among the UK’s busiest, most successful foundation trusts. We provide specialist care for patients including heart and lung, cancer and renal services as well as a full range of local hospital and community services for people in Lambeth and Southwark.
We have a long tradition of clinical and scientific achievement and – as part of King’s Health Partners – we are one of England’s eight academic health sciences centres, bringing together world-class clinical services, teaching and research. We have one of the National Institute for Health Research’s biomedical research centres, established with King’s College London in 2007, as well as dedicated clinical research facilities.
We have around 22,700 staff, making us one of the largest NHS Trusts in the country and one of the biggest employers locally. We aim to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and continue to develop new and existing partnerships with local people, patients, neighbouring NHS organisations, local authorities and charitable bodies and GPs.
Please refer to the attached Job Description and Person Specification for a full list of role requirements and main responsibilities.
