About the role
We are looking for a motivated and collaborative individual to join the Strategy, Priorities & Innovation Directorate’s Business Office that sits at the heart of the team.
The Strategy, Priorities & Innovation Directorate work collaboratively to provide strategic, systems leadership across the MoJ, driving innovation, embedding longer-term thinking, supporting effective governance, and surging high-capability teams into priorities for the justice system.
Our Missions
• Shape long-term strategic outcomes for the justice system.
• Promote efficient integration across the MoJ family to serve the justice system.
• Connect the justice system across the public sector and wider partners.
As a Business Support Officer, you will be a key player in helping these teams to deliver the departments priorities. You will be working in a fast-paced environment, balancing competing demands, and delivering challenging objectives.
We are looking for a confident self-starter with excellent organisational skills to balance the competing demands of the role. You will also contribute to the effective running of the Directorate by encouraging continuous improvement and promoting ideas to improve ways of collaborative working.
Business Support Officer Responsibilities: (include but are not limited to)
• Management of 2 x Deputy Directors Diaries and Inboxes. Ensuring all queries are dealt with in a timely and professional manner.
• Provide corporate support to the wider Strategy, Priorities & Innovation Directorate on queries and administration.
• Oversee the process for new starters and leavers within the directorate e.g. IT requests, vetting and onboarding.
• Assist with recruitment campaigns, working closely with recruitment managers.
• Manage and lead on business administration processes including team agendas, rotas, org charts.
• Lead with Business Continuity and Health and Safety queries and individual assessments.
• Provide business administration support to senior leadership team e.g. room bookings, taking minutes/actions etc.
• Help project manage and deliver the Directorate’s People Survey Action Plan
Desirable Skills and Knowledge:
• Work well under pressure and to tight deadlines.
• Ability to multitask and prioritise high work volumes in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent co-ordination and organisational skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Competent IT user with experience using MS Office.
• Ability to develop good working relationships with colleagues across the directorate and internal/external stakeholders, whilst being able to liaise with them confidently.
• A proactive member of the Strategy, Priorities & Innovation Directorate contributing to the overall impact and professionalism of the team.
