From September 2025, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to teach Engineering. Applications from new entrants to the profession are welcome, as well as from experienced teachers.

We are looking for a teacher with ability and imagination; someone who will be able to motivate and inspire a love of Engineering developing a mastery of the subject; a teacher who can communicate clearly and be determined for their students to succeed. We are looking for a teacher to deliver the Applied General Qualification and the new Alternative Academic Qualification (AAQ).

Results are consistently strong across our provision compared to the national rate for the Sixth Form College sector. Student numbers for Engineering are high and students benefit from a rich course that provides them with both academic and practical skills as well as opportunities to visit a wide range of local employers and apprenticeship providers. Our Engineering cohort go on to further study, apprenticeships or employment.

The successful applicant will be joining an experienced, dynamic and welcoming team of teachers led by the Head of Department. Engineering is part of the Mathematical Sciences Department which includes Mathematics, Physics, and Engineering. This is a friendly team of highly capable teachers who share a strong commitment to supporting students. Within the team there is an emphasis on developing and sharing pedagogic methods to best deal with the diverse range of aptitudes and needs of our students.

Grade & Salary Range

The successful candidate will be appointed to the national pay scales for Teachers in Sixth Form Colleges, within the range £31,568 p.a. to £48,783 p.a (pay award pending), dependent on experience.

Main Terms & Conditions

The contract will be on a full time, permanent basis, commencing 1st September 2025. 

You will be required, as part of the terms of your appointment, to attain an appropriate teaching qualification in a specified timescale, if you are not already appropriately qualified.
