Job description:

Reporting into the Senior HRBP, the HR Business Partner (HRBP) role is the customer face of the GPA HR team and plays a key part in utilising business intelligence to influence the development of strategic HR solutions. The business partner role is a leadership position, accountable for embedding change, whilst ensuring effective employee engagement and high levels of improved employee experience.

The post holder will be responsible for partnering x2 GPA business units to influence, collaborate and partner with SCS leaders and their business units to lead and champion HR projects as a HR generalist. The role holder will be a critical enabler to support change and organisational transformation to build on the strategy that is currently in place.

The HRBP will be responsible for driving cultural change, empowering teams to promote continuous improvement at all levels, encouraging observation, feedback and coaching within the team and wider whilst being considerate of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, acting in an inclusive way and valuing people. This is a fast paced role, in which the post holder will be required to be confident and proactive in problem solving and able to build strong, trusted working relationships with a range of senior stakeholders across GPA and the wider Civil Service.

The post holder may be required to deputise for the Senior HR Business Partner (SHRBP.) This adds resilience to the GPA HR team’s senior structure. Responsibilities will vary, but the post holder would be expected to make decisions and act on the SHRBP’s behalf.

Key Responsibilities:

The HR Business Partner role will;

  • Utilise business intelligence to influence the development of strategic HR solutions created by the HR Centre of Excellence teams (including items such as People Strategy, Values and Leadership Development listed in the business plan) to increase business capability and deliver value add.
  • Advocate & champion HR priorities across the business, problem-solving BAU activities including ER issues, performance management, SLT support, EDI, well-being, recruitment, HR policy and other evolving issues.
  • Translate business objectives from the GPA business and continuous improvement plans, into effective HR practices and delivering people solutions aligned to business objectives. Business Partners will lead the development of solutions, influencing senior leadership teams to make strategic decisions in line with both policy requirements and contextual business needs.
  • Deliver and lead key HR initiatives across the HR spectrum, including workforce planning, restructuring, resourcing, talent management, pay and reward, employee relations, employee engagement and performance management.
  • Review organisational team structures and work with senior leadership teams to align them with strategic business objectives, ensuring GPA delivers efficiencies and is fit for future purpose.
  • Analyse data trends from people metrics to influence and lead decision-making conversations at Senior Leadership level - adapting HR best practice to suit the needs of each unit as appropriate.
  • Lead TUPE/COSOP of Government Departments into GPA as part of the wider vision of the GPA onboarding Client forecast.
