Strategic Planning & Development:
Contribute to the annual refresh of the Strategic Command Command Plan: This will involve gathering inputs from across the Command, analysing performance data, identifying emerging risks and opportunities, and drafting sections of the plan.
Develop strategic options: Analyse specific challenges or opportunities facing Strategic Command (e.g., the implications of new technologies, evolving threats in a specific region) and develop a range of options for consideration by senior leadership.
Conduct horizon scanning: Monitor and analyse emerging trends in areas such as technology, geopolitics, and societal change, assessing their potential impact on Strategic Command's strategic objectives.
Develop and maintain strategic frameworks: Contribute to the development and maintenance of frameworks and tools to support strategic planning and decision-making within the Command (e.g., risk registers, capability assessments).
Strategic Defence Review Implementation:
Develop implementation plans: Translate the relevant aspects of the Strategic Defence Review into specific actions and initiatives for Strategic Command, outlining timelines, resources, and key performance indicators.
Coordinate cross-functional working groups: Lead or participate in cross-functional working groups to ensure effective implementation of the Strategic Defence Review across different areas of the Command.
Monitor progress and report on outcomes: Track progress against implementation plans, identify any roadblocks or challenges, and provide regular updates to senior leadership.
Liaise with external stakeholders: Engage with colleagues in other parts of the Ministry of Defence, other Government Departments, and international partners, as well as think tanks, to ensure alignment and collaboration on Strategic Defence Review implementation.
General:
Contribute to the development of the team's knowledge base: Share knowledge and insights with colleagues, contribute to internal knowledge management systems, and participate in continuous professional development activities.
Deputise for Assistant Head of Strategy and Plans: As required, deputise for the Assistant Head of Strategy and Plans, representing the team at meetings and providing leadership in their absence.
