University of Bristol The students are from Bristol University Medical School and there are programmes involving teaching of Years 2, 3, 4, and 5 from a range of speciality attachments. The teaching programme is constantly developing and at present the focus is on years 2, 3 and 5. In summary the main duties include: Case Based Learning facilitation, anatomy and clinical skills teaching and SIM training. You will be expected to deliver some generic teaching (e.g., prescribing and clinical skills seminars) Develop own teaching materials, methods and approaches with guidance e.g., bedside teaching. Identify learning needs of students and define appropriate learning objectives. Ensure that content, delivery and materials will meet the defined learning objectives. Supervise the work of students, provide advice on study skills. Develop your understanding of the dynamics of group work, addressing specific issues and helping groups and individuals as necessary Be available to support specific topics, questions or concepts at request of individual students, subject to available time. Assess the work and progress of students and provide constructive feedback to students. This will also involve OSCE examinations and long case examinations as well as assessing through case-based discussion, mini-Cex and DOPS. Act as a mentor for students. Take an informal role in student pastoral care such as identification of "at risk" students and dysfunctional groups, offering support and referral to appropriate sources of help. Support other clinical education fellows. Involvement in the student choice/external student selected component (e-SSC) is encouraged and developing appropriate projects for students to complete is an expected component of the role. University of Plymouth The post holder will have teaching duties for years 3,4 and 5 students from Peninsula Medical School. This is a new post and will be developed throughout the year. The main teaching duties will include: Introduction and orientation to Y4 students during critical care rotation Be available to support specific topics, questions or concepts at request of individual students, subject to available time including bedside teaching in ITU/HDU Deliver Y5 weekly simulation based teaching programme Provide tutorials on a range of topics to all year groups Support delivery of clinical skills teaching to PMS students in Academy Involvement in formal assessments including skills assessments and CPSA Act as a mentor for students. Take an informal role in student pastoral care such as identification of "at risk" students and dysfunctional groups, offering support and referral to appropriate sources of help. Collaborate with other clinical teaching fellows Involvement in the student selected component (SSC) and quality improvement projects is encouraged and developing appropriate projects for students to complete is an expected component of the role.
