We are seeking to enlist 10 Technician Engineer Apprentices for a 3-year Modern Apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering. The training scheme will cover the acquisition of Core skills at intermediate level one, Performing Engineering Operations (PEO), a National Certificate in Electrical Engineering, and a level 3 NVQ in Electrical & Electronic Engineering in phases 2 and 3 of the programme.
DE&S Deca Sealand offers Technician Engineer apprenticeships that are crucial in providing business-focused training to help the organisation achieve its business targets and objectives.
This apprenticeship will adhere to an established standard or framework and will run for 36 months, with the possibility of extension up to 42 months in exceptional cases. Apprentices who meet the required standards are eligible for consideration for various technician roles within our business.
Job description
Year 1
The initial stage of the training plan will be conducted off-site by our Apprentice Training partner, Coleg Cambria Deeside, as well as at DE&S Deca. Apprentices will undergo a Standards Based Training programme and will receive guidance, support, and mentorship from proficient and seasoned technicians.
In your initial year, you will be at Coleg Cambria on a full-time basis, working towards your BTEC Level 3 Award in Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Engineering), NVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations, and Functional Skills qualifications.
Since the training provider is located within a daily commuting distance of Deca Sealand, all candidates are required to arrange and finance appropriate travel to ensure punctual attendance between 08:00 and 17:00 while at Coleg Cambria Deeside.
You will receive exclusive pastoral support from DE&S Deca personnel during your time at college.
Year 2 & 3
The second and third stages of the training programme will take place on-site at Deca Sealand and Coleg Cambria Deeside, although apprentices may also need to travel for off-site development training and courses during each phase of the programme.
Successful candidates are expected to begin their roles at Deca Sealand at the start of September 2025 and then start their training at Coleg Cambria Deeside.
On successful completion of the scheme and end Point Assessment at the end of Year 3, you may be appointed to a permanent role within DE&S Deca.
The scheme is open to anyone over the age of 16 years at the start of the apprenticeship.
