Senior Planner - Planning Development
Permanent, 37 hours per week
Salary NS13 £43,693 - £45,718 per annum

Step into a dynamic role at the Senior Planner level with our highly respected and valued planning service.

Be part of an exceptional team of professionals who are not just colleagues but a welcoming community. We're committed to delivering the best service possible by promoting growth and securing quality development. Our District is a vibrant tapestry of Green Belt, Heritage & Conservation areas, Town Centres, flood risk zones, and complex development negotiations. In recent years, our Council has spearheaded numerous regeneration initiatives across Newark, with the Development team playing a key role.

As a Senior Planner, you'll be at the pinnacle of our team, providing invaluable guidance to Planners, Trainees, and technical support colleagues. You'll tackle the most complex and challenging development proposals, bringing fresh perspectives to processes, procedures, and best practices to elevate our planning service to new heights.

In this dynamic role, you will support the Business Manager in driving change, continuous improvement, and efficiency across all aspects of process, service delivery, and customer interface. You'll help implement business plans for the Development Business Unit to ensure the Council delivers effective services, maximises business development opportunities, reduces costs, and increases income each year.

You will lead individual change and improvement projects under the supervision of the Business Manager, offering guidance and advice to Elected Members, customers (both internal and external), Parish & Town Councils, community groups, and external partners on a wide range of issues—even those outside your immediate expertise.

Your contributions will significantly impact the regeneration and growth of the District. You'll play a key role in the Growth Point Initiative by applying Planning powers and collaborating with other Council businesses and external partner agencies.

Educated to level 7 (Masters of equivalent) in Planning or a relevant subject area is essential along with Chartered Membership of RTPI, or equivalent body, or be eligible to attain full Chartered Membership of the RTPI within first year of appointment.

The postholders will need to have regular access to a vehicle to enable them to travel within/outside the district to carry out their duties.
