Salary: £23,669 rising to £24,165 per annum (Professional Services Grade 4 & 4a)

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time, 37 hours per week, based on a 7-day rota, including weekends and bank holidays, 52 weeks per year

Animal Care Learning Support Technician - The Role:

Do you have a passion within animal care and welfare? We are looking for someone to maintain our range of animals and facilities at the Lackham Animal Centre and to guide and support students.

Our animals are fundamental to our teaching quality and to our student progression; and you as a successful technician can be a part of that journey.

Animal Care Learning Support Technician - You

You will be pro-active, passionate and motived to support our animal care provision, helping our learners achieve by assisting our lecturers and preparing the workplace. The successful candidate will have recent relevant experience of the animal care industry and hold good knowledge industry experience within relevant animal husbandry settings ideally having worked with a wide range of animals, such as small mammals, reptiles, primates, and hoof stock etc.

The successful candidate will be passionate, confident and have industry experience working with a range of animals, working to high industry standards to meet animal welfare needs.

You will be expected to work such hours as are reasonably necessary for the proper performance of your duties and responsibilities, normally 37 hours per week. Your working hours are variable and will be agreed as part of a rota. Your working hours may include days, weekends, and bank holidays. Where your working day is more than six hours, one hour should be taken for lunch which will be unpaid.

You will have the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Level 3 animal related qualification or willingness to work towards
