We have a full-time opportunity on Amyand, a 28 bedded ward providing care for patients with a variety of acute medical conditions requiring short term care. Most of our patients are admitted from Accident and Emergency and the Acute Medical Unit. We also host 4 day beds for the GALDU (Gastro and Liver Day Unit) and nurses will have the opportunity to rotate to this area.
This is a chance to develop your skills as part of a highly capable team where you’re guaranteed opportunities to learn how to care for patients requiring a variety of nursing interventions. You will be supported by our practice educators and senior nurses to help you develop.
• Deliver clinical care to patients as required within set protocols and within the scope of the Nursing Associates practice.
• Contribute to patient assessment (after appropriate delegation from the RN) and plan and deliver high standards of care.
• Coordinate a team of Health Care Assistants in care delivery and where appropriate other students on the FdSc programme.
• Take responsibility for a group/caseload of patients as required and when delegated by a RN.
• Delegate tasks (not responsibility) to other members of the clinical care team as appropriate, e.g. Healthcare support workers, family members and lay carers.
• Assist in the delivery of health promotion advice as appropriate to role and in line with own level of competence.
• Undertake agreed enhanced tasks as specified in local competencies under the indirect supervision of a RN.
St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. Our sites include St George’s Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).
After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000-strong workforce.
Please see the attached supporting document which contains more and person specification information about the role.
