Barnardo's Somerset Phoenix Project – Specialist Community Outreach Practitioner

The Somerset Phoenix Project provides specialist, trauma-informed support to children, young people and their families who have been affected by childhood sexual abuse (CSA) .

We provide Somerset professionals with support, training and consultation to empower them to work alongside children and young people affected by CSA. We also provide trauma-informed advice, support and guidance on a one-to-one basis to non-abusing parents & carers.

We have an exciting opportunity for a new role in our well established team. This role would aim to reach out to the most marginalised children, young people and families living in the Somerset locality who face additional barriers in seeking Specialist CSA recovery support. The successful post holder will use trauma-informed assertive outreach techniques to improve engagement, build trust and ensure that families are coming into support with informed consent to receive a service. This post will aim to ensure equitable access to much needed support.

Do you have an understanding of trauma-informed practice?
Do you have the compassion and skills needed to break down barriers which prevent some young people accessing support?
Are you able to build professional relationships with children & young people?
Do you have a non-judgemental and inclusive approach to working alongside children and young people, irrespective of their culture, faith, heritage, learning differences or economic status?
Are you able to work independently but also as part of a cohesive, well-established team?
Are you passionate about collaborating with other professionals & community groups to work alongside traumatised children and young people in their recovery journey?
Do you feel all children and young people should have equitable access to services?
Are you committed to improving the lives of children & young people living in Somerset?
If so, we would love to hear from you.

Please note due to the high volume of applications for some posts, this advert might close before the displayed closing date. We recommend that you apply for this role as soon as possible.
