We’re looking for a dynamic leader to coordinate and drive key business services within Security Services Group (SSG), delivering essential and fast paced support by leading resourcing and workforce planning. This high impact role operates at a senior level within a SCS 1 space, working closely with the SCS 2 Directorate and shaping our strategic workforce plan (SWfP). You’ll manage business-critical projects, build relationships across MOD, and play a key role in shaping SSG’s future.

Reporting to the Deputy Head Business Services, you’ll be a core member of SSG’s Higher Management Group (HMG), contributing to executive decision-making and deputising for the Head of Business Services when needed. The role involves managing the business services team and collaborating with HR business partners to improve processes and workforce planning. Travel across the UK, including bi-monthly visits to our HQ in Shrivenham, is required.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Workforce Planning & Recruitment

Lead SSG’s resourcing strategy in line with the Strategic Workforce Plan.
Oversee workforce planning and business plan input
Resource profiling
Monthly Resource Committee meetings
Ensure the business teams processes are in line with Civil Service Recruitment Principles and best practice
Collaborate with HRBPs to align workforce needs with key business goals
Work alongside SSG Hd Finance to generate ABC submissions to deliver an affordable, funded SWP

Leadership & Management

Line and task manage the SSG Business Services Team.
Provide leadership, motivation, and clear direction for the team
Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture across SSG
Ensure strong relationships with senior leaders across DIO and MOD
Lead stakeholder management and engagement activities

Senior Leadership & Governance

Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to shape future structures, capabilities and Vision 25 & 30 initiatives
Strategic workforce planning and recruitment processes
Sit on H&S and QA Boards, providing a business services perspective
Lead Business Continuity & Succession Planning
Support Head of SSG (SCS1) in delivering strategic priorities

Additional Responsibilities

Chair the quarterly HR Working Group, addressing casework, T&Cs harmonisation, and ad-hoc HR issues
Oversee business data reporting to areas of the business, including mandatory training, nominal roll, organisational charts, and HR metrics
Continuously improve business services and support structural changes
