This role is based across our two properties in York city centre - Treasurer's House and Goddards. This role is flexible hourly role, where you will be working 2-4 days a week to support the management team in maintaining high levels of food safety as well as achieving financial targets to help support the conservation work of the National Trust.

Hours: This role is an hourly paid, fixed term role. Wherever possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we’re looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needs of the business. We’d give you as much notice of this as possible.

Duration: Fixed Term Contract until 28 February 2026

Salary: £12.75 an hour

What it's like to work here
Treasurer's House sits in the shadow of York Minster, and parts of the building's history date back to Roman times. We are open Saturday-Wednesday from April-December, with our Christmas period being the peak of our trade. We operate a traditional cafe service in the lower part of the house, serving a simple menu of light lunches and cakes.

Goddards is a garden oasis in the city of York. We operate a small kiosk serving our visitors a small selection of toasted sandwiches and cakes, often inspired by the history of the family who built the house - Terry's (think chocolate orange).

What you'll be doing
You will be leading a daily team of 2-3 people to deliver an amazing service to our visitors whilst adhering to all aspects of food safety. You will be expected to support the team keep their training up to date, as well as potentially taking the lead in the event of a food safety audit visit. You will be required to support in all areas of the cafes - baking, barista work, tills, table clearing, and pot wash.
