Summary
At STEM Recruitment Solutions we are working with our client who are looking to recruit a Post mortem Assistant for Veterinarian Lab based in Dumfries.
Part Time 12 Week temporary contract starting March 2025
Postmortem Room Duties
Assist with the weighing of animal carcasses.
Set up the PM room prior to the PM. This would include making up buckets of Anigene, ensuring that the PM room is sufficiently stocked of consumables.
Clean up after every PM, clean the concrete apron/pens after every carcase delivery.
Sharpen knives.
Ensure that stock levels are maintained.
Deal with callers to the back door (stock deliveries/carcase deliveries).
Assist driver in uplifting carcases. Fill in paperwork and clean up afterwards.
Assist driver in uplifting clinical waste.
Other duties include replenishing pots in the lab, emptying clinical waste bins, cleaning PM changing room, emptying drain traps, recharging respirator batteries, cleaning the cold stores, rotating and emptying PM trays.
Deal with internal and external customers (face to face and via telephone), including stock deliveries, carcass deliveries and pick-ups.
Administrative Duties
Enter lab results into computer system.
Printing Laboratory reports.
Packaging, recording and sending of all samples.
Stock maintenance for both the laboratory and PM room
Basic administration duties (post, labels, printing and filing/records management etc.).
