Summary

LINE MANAGER: Vice President New Building
JOB PURPOSE

We have an exciting opportunity to join our growing New Building department as a New Building Special Projects Manager. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for leading the planning, execution, certification, and oversight of special projects. You will ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget, while adhering to international regulations and aligning with the broader project schedule and requirements.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Develops detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and technical specifications, based on project requirements

• Coordinates daily actions and communication flow to/from subcontractors and third parties involved in the project

• Ensures effective stakeholder alignment and engagement

• Deals directly with Technical and Architect team, Class Register, subcontractors and Shipyard representatives to ensure that proper planning and coordination is done to maintain the design and construction schedule

• Maintains open communication with stakeholders and senior management, providing regular project updates and addressing concerns

• Identifies potential project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively address issues to minimize project disruptions

• Coordinates the Plan Approval process as required

• Assists the Project Director with project-related procurement activities and contract preparation

• Highlights relevant aspects of the approved design that can be improved for future projects

• Carries out regular visits to construction sites and suppliers.
QUALIFICATIONS (skills, competencies, experience)

• A degree relevant to shipbuilding or equivalent qualification with relevant experience in the Marine/Shipbuilding industry is required

• Professional working experience in shipbuilding and/or refitting projects on ships

• Project management skills including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management

• Familiarity with Marine Rules and International Standards and Regulations

• Ability to review new building specifications and drawings and to read and understand a variety of engineering drawings

• Experience in a leadership position (Preferred)

• Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office (including Excel, MS Word, MS Project or equivalent and PowerPoint)

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure

• Frequent travelling is required

• Fluency in English, knowledge of Italian and/or French is a plus
