We have a number of exciting opportunities for Therapy Assistants to join our Children's Therapies team across East, West, Mid and North Kent including: Canterbury, Dover, Ashford and Swale Districts.
The post holders will support children and young people with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) across community and education settings, Family Hubs and clinics within a specific district. This post also requires close collaboration with the Health Visiting team to support the delivery of the Early Language Identification Measure (ELIM) targeted Intervention package, Family Hubs and Early Years Practitioners.
As there are a number of hours available, we are considering full or part time working and are open to flexible working arrangements.
Therapy Assistants support clinicians in delivering ‘Specialist therapy interventions, and also deliver their own one-to-one and group therapy sessions under the supervision of SLTs.
Therapy Assistants may also be involved in ‘Universal’and ‘Targeted’ work, by working with families and professionals in the community and education settings, by offering preventative packages to children and young people, and by rolling out training programmes in collaboration with other health partners. The role also includes administrative duties such as resource making, follow-up contact with service users, clinical record keeping etc.
Specifically, to the post holder’s involvement supporting the delivery of the ELIM targeted intervention package, the post holder would need experience:
• Working with parents/carers and families of pre-school aged children with SLCN
• Coaching and empowering parents/carers to support their child’s SLC within the home environment and in everyday activities
• Using communication skills to work in partnership with parents, Health Visiting and Early years settings
• Organise and plan their time to deliver intervention packages flexibly to meet the individual needs and be efficient with record keeping.
