Legal Aid Secretary | Hybrid Working | Full Time | £25,000 - £30,000 per annum depending on experience

Our client is a Lexcel Accredited Family Legal Aid Practice (no private clients) and have been established as a leading provider of Legal Aid services for over 40 years.

They focus on providing legal representation in Care Proceedings and other Public Law matters.

They are currently seeking a Legal Aid Secretary to join their team in Barking.

This is a varied role requiring a dynamic individual who is capable of working under their own initiative and capable of thinking “outside of the box”! The successful applicant will need to be highly motivated and productive. They will become a much relied upon member of a very small team.

Are you the right person for the job?

• Legal Aid experience and understanding is essential (minimum 2 years)
• Professional, organised, and highly motivated
• Knowledge of case management systems (preferably Partner 4 Windows)
• Strong understanding of GDPR and client confidentiality
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with clients and professionals confidently
• Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook 365 (One Drive, Calendar) and secure email systems
• Excellent typing speed and grammar with strong written English skills
• Ability to manage secure email downloads and attachments
• Experience with audio dictation

What will your role look like?

• Handle C100 & C2 applications to issue proceedings and Part 25 applications
• Process CCMS Funding Applications, amendments, payments on account, and prior authorities
• Prepare court pleadings bundles and manage PDF electronic collation
• Liaise with Barristers' Chambers, Local Authorities, and other external professionals
• Instruct experts (e.g. Psychologists, Psychiatrists, HSTs, etc.)
• Prepare legal documents, including Position Statements, Statements, Letters of Instruction, and Client Care Letters
• Prepare Court Attendance Notes and Attendance Notes
• Manage email filing and general administrative tasks
• Answering Telephone Enquiries
