Thurrock is served by the C2C railway which connects London Fenchurch Street and Shoeburyness, meaning the average train journey time from London to Grays is 40 minutes. Thurrock also has easy access to the A13, M25 and Dartford Crossing.
Thurrock is one of the fastest growing populations in the Eastern Region, with an increasingly diverse community making for interesting and rewarding casework. Thurrock EPS has a continued focus on inclusion and diversity through a series of reflective and pro-active activities to ensure fair and equitable access to our service for all.
We put EP wellbeing and work-life balance at the forefront of what we do. We believe that happy EPs means better outcomes for our children and young people.
As a Senior EP for Thurrock, you will be able to develop an area of senior specialism within the service, with protected time for this activity. We are currently seeking specialisms in Social, Emotional and Mental Health as well as Looked After Children (working with the Virtual School), although other areas of specialism can be negotiated. Through this specialism, you can make a real impact by contributing to the development of policy and strategy within the local authority.
At Thurrock EPS, you will be part of a team of Educational Psychologists with a strong commitment to continuous improvement and to offering the highest quality of person-centred services to children, young people and families living in Thurrock. As a member of the team, you will also participate in providing a traded service to schools and academies through a Consultation First model, work with children and young people from pre-school to post-16, provide crucial support for our most vulnerable residents, and undertake a range of statutory duties.
As the ideal candidate you will:
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist.
- A minimum of 1 year's experience working within a Local Authority context.
- A commitment to promoting inclusion through your work with children, families, schools and other professionals.
- Work collaboratively as part of an EP Team, taking a solution-focused approach to enhancing the quality and efficiency of the service.
In return we offer:
- Opportunities to deliver Educational Psychology creatively, in different contexts, and to explore new ways of working
- A well-established and highly regarded EP service
- A commitment to CPD, professional and personal development
- Regular one-to-one supervision, and opportunities for case discussion and peer support (including an enhanced supervision and induction programme for new starters)
- A culture of healthy work/life balance through flexible working arrangements and forward-thinking IT solutions
- The opportunity to participate in service development and transformation in a rapidly changing environment
- Generous local government pension (employer contribution 16.1%)
* Existing SPA points will be honoured following confirmation from your current employer.
A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check at Enhanced Level with Children's & Adults Barred List is required for this post.
