At Pobl Group, this role is best known as Floating Support Worker. Our Newport Support Hub has an opportunity for a part-time Floating Support Worker to join the team in providing a drop-in service for individuals in need of immediate support. This role focuses on preventing homelessness, assisting with housing crises, helping people manage their homes and budgets, and navigating the complexities of welfare benefits.

Where does this role fit in?

This is a chance to be involved an innovative service in Newport. You will work alongside both Pobl and Council staff teams to support individuals who have housing support needs and maybe of threatened with homelessness.

You will be reacting and supporting individuals with housing support needs which may include signposting support to other agencies and Newport Supporting People gateway for support, benefits support, improving their budgeting skills, addressing debts.

The role will be varied and involve working with general public to help people maintain their tenancies and prevent homelessness and develop skills needed to maintain their tenancies.

Our aim is to ensure we equip the people we support with the knowledge and tools they need to help them manage their home independently. This is a challenging role and you may be faced with complex situations and difficult conversations, behaviours and needs. Therefore, you will need to be organised, well prepared and creative. The ideal candidate will have some experience of providing one to one support to people in a housing support related environment.

Pobl Benefits:

Salary: £23,585.00 FTE
Contract Type: Part-time (18.5hrs), permanent
Shift Pattern: Monday, Tuesday & Half day Wednesday.
Requirements: A driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is desirable for this role.
For this role you will require an Enhanced DBS check, which we pay for.
