Are you ready to take your career to the next level while achieving the perfect work-life balance? At North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, we offer the ideal environment for ambitious professionals to thrive.

You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside an inspiring, passionate team, enhance your medical research skills, and boost your clinical confidence — all while making a real difference in the lives of our patients.

We’re looking for enthusiastic, innovative Consultants who are eager to make an impact. Join us as we expand and enhance our Gastroenterology Services to meet the evolving needs of the communities we serve. As part of our renowned Postgraduate Medical Education Centre, you'll benefit from our close links with prestigious institutions like Leicester and Cambridge, giving you access to oustanding training and development.

Our JAG-accredited Endoscopy units offers opportunities for hands-on learning across a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. You will have the chance to lead the development of exciting new services like Endoscopic Ultrasound and the expansion of our IBD services.

At North West Anglia, we truly believe in a flexible, healthy work-life balance. Whether you prefer to work full-time, part-time, or on a job-share basis, we’re open to finding the right arrangement for you.

Want to know more or have an informal chat? Reach out to Dr. Phil Roberts, Clinical Lead for Gastroenterology and Hepatology, atphilroberts1@nhs.net.

You’ll work 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week, comprising 8.5 PAs of direct clinical care and 1.5 PAs for supporting professional activities. Within your first three months, you’ll sit down with us to craft a tailored job plan that reflects your professional goals and aspirations. We’re happy to be flexible, so if you want to adjust your PA allocation, we can discuss that too.

In this role, you’ll join a collaborative, forward-thinking Gastroenterology team, working closely with our Hepatology experts to deliver exceptional inpatient and outpatient care. You’ll lead weekly outpatient clinics and have the flexibility to take time off or receive additional payment for covering extra duties when agreed in advance.

We’ll ensure you have full administrative and secretarial support, so you can focus on what really matters: providing outstanding care, teaching, and mentoring. You’ll also be involved in audit, governance, and mortality/morbidity reviews — helping to drive continual improvements across the service.

As a Consultant, you’ll be at the forefront of patient care, expected to uphold the highest standards of practice, while adhering to Trust policies on patient safety and infection prevention.

• Relocation allowance in line with the Trust policy
• Access to the NHS Pension Scheme
• Generous Holiday Entitlement, starting at 27 days a year (for full time workers) plus bank/public holidays
