Interim Planning Consultant Strategic Sites

Pay Rate: £58.00 per hour PAYE

Hours per week: 40 Monday - Friday, normal working hours

Role Length: This opening assignment is for6 months

City: ST ALBANS

Basic DBS disclosure required

As a proactive planning professional, you will independently manage and negotiate development proposals through the pre-application and application stages within a PPA framework.

You will work closely with the Team Leader and Deputy, supported by a Design Officer, to deliver high-quality development decisions at a large or strategic scale. Your track record of securing successful planning outcomes will ensure effective and efficient progress through the planning process.

Key Responsibilities:

Negotiate the terms of the PPA with the applicant.
Lead on the pre application negotiations: arranging and attending meetings, liaising with consultees and providing written feedback to the applicant. This is likely to include site visits.
Process the planning application once submitted.
Write the officer report.
Present to committee.



Key requirements:

A degree in Town Planning, Urban Design, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
RTPI member or eligible to join.
Strong understanding of national and local planning policy, including relevant legislation and guidelines.
Proven experience in planning and delivering large-scale or strategic development projects.
Experience with negotiating complex planning applications, pre-applications, and working within Planning Performance Agreements (PPAs).
Significant experience of writing officer reports and presenting at committee
Must have strong time management skills and be able to balance a varied and complex workload.
Strong negotiation skills with the ability to communicate articulately via both written and spoken mediums.
Able to work independently with limited supervision, with a track record of dealing with such sites at both pre application and application stages.
Proficient in using planning software and other relevant tools.
