Your Role

Working with Transport for Greater Manchester as a Travelshop Assistant, you will be the familiar face people see on their daily travels, helping all customers to have an informed choice to help them with their onward journey. Every day will be different, you’ll meet people from all areas of Greater Manchester.

You will be part of the Facilities Operations team, advising passengers in relation to products, selling a range of tickets, at some of our sites this will include rail tickets and managing the security of the Travelshop. Our customers need up to date and accurate information therefore you will need to ensure that all information both verbal and printed is current and available. You will also be passionate about making sure the Travelshop is a friendly and safe environment for customers.

Who are we?

Facilities Operations are responsible for the safe operation of TfGM's operational sites and for providing face to face help and assistance to the customers of the Bee Network.We are a frontline team for TfGM and the Bee Network and play a crucial role in the delivery of the Bee Network ensuring theservices and facilities remain accessible, safe and reliable.

We’re seeking individuals who enjoy working face to face with a variety of people and who want to serve the community and visitors of Greater Manchester. Helping people on their journeys. You’ll have the ability to handle cash transactions in a busy environment with some experience of using Microsoft Office and ideally you will have experience of using ticketing systems such as such as Fujitsu Star System however, training can be provided on this.

What we can offer you

We currently have vacancies at our South and West Greater Manchester Travel shops including Altrincham and Bolton. We’re also looking to recruit to our talent bank for roles over the next 6 months which may be available across other areas due to work we are doing across Greater Manchester.

We offer a competitive salary, starting from £28,069, plus a shift allowance of 12.5% or 15% which can vary depending on location, this means that as you’ll work on a rostered basis, we’ll add an extra 12.5% or 15% onto your total pay for the month (not just for certain shifts).
