We are looking for an enthusiastic team player to join our well established Security Department. As a Security Officer your time will be spent working within the Whittington Hospital main site with occasional work at other Trust sites. The successful applicant will need to be able to cope calmly and effectively with both routine and emergency situations, be a compassionate, professional and courteous individual. The role involves many different duties and requires you to be able to adapt to dealing with difficult situations and be sensitive to the fact that you are operationally working in a busy hospital environment. You will also be required to use appropriate skills to diffuse and de-escalate aggressive behaviour and physically assist in the physical intervention of violent and confused patients. We are looking for individuals who are self -motivated and enjoy working in a very busy and rapidly changing environment. You will require excellent organisational skills, be able to prioritise your own workload and work well under pressure. The successful applicant will be part of a 6 person team and will work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern (including nights, weekends & bank holidays) As part of the team you will be protecting people and property, detecting and preventing crimes while providing a reassuring presence to our staff, patients and visitors. Previous security experience in a large and diverse organisation would help but other transferable experience would also be considered. A full driving licence is essential as is the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing by making reports and undertake a range of tasks using computer software.
