Crynodeb
The children and young peoples pre-anaesthetic management service (CYP PreAMS) aims to provide a multidisciplinary assessment for all children and young people requiring a planned anaesthetic; ensuring all medical, physical and emotional needs are met before admission to hospital. The objectives of CYP PreAMS are: To ascertain a patients suitability for anaesthetic and proposed procedure through clinical assessment and health screening Optimise health conditions Provide psychological preparation and anxiety management Support patients with additional needs learning disabilities, autism, ADHD etc Improve safety and quality of care through multidisciplinary team working, shared decision making and robust care planning Provide up to date and relevant information to children and families to ensure informed consent Create an opportunity for health promotion / safeguarding making every contact count.
