Project Engineer - Civils

Location: Walsall (Within 60 mile radius travel to sites)

Salary: £55,000- £60,000

The Role

As a Project Engineer will be responsible for coordinating and managing internal Support Functions and sub-contract Supply Chain partners across a diverse range of projects within the water and wastewater sector for Severn Trent Water. This role is part of the Engineering team based in the Northern Region, working alongside experienced teams to deliver projects ranging from £1m to £30m.

The Project Engineer will support the project delivery teams, overseeing concept development and detailed design solutions tailored to client and site-specific requirements.

Key Responsibilities

ECI Phase

  • Attend site meetings and client meetings
  • Coordinate the design during the ECI Phase
  • Participate in value engineering (VE), risk & opportunity (R&O) studies, and feasibility assessments
  • Assist in drafting ITTs, ensuring correct scope is outlined for each partner
  • Work alongside the Estimating Team throughout all project phases

Detailed Design Phase

  • Coordinate multidiscipline supply chains and designers, working with Project Managers (PMs) and M&E support teams.
  • Issue draft drawings both internally and to clients.
  • Attend design meetings with both clients and internal teams.
  • Manage document control systems (Asite, Sharepoint, etc.).

Construction Phase

  • Facilitate the transition from the ECI and Detailed Design Phases to the project delivery team
  • Contribute to procurement scheduling
  • Coordinate the technical query process
  • Continue managing multidiscipline supply chains and designers, working with PMs and M&E support
  • Ensure delivery teams are prepared for handover requirements
  • Oversee commissioning planning to ensure all requirements are in place and understood
  • Coordinate and compile the H&S file

Handover and Commissioning

  • Coordinate the issuing and uploading of all required documentation for project completion.
  • Attend post-project review meetings to assess outcomes.

About You

Essential:

  • Solid understanding of contract conditions, CDM regulations, and Design Management.
  • Experience with Programme & Risk Management.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6 or equivalent planning software.
  • Proficient with IT, particularly the full Office 365 suite.
  • Experience with CAD software or similar.
  • A valid CSCS manager's card.
  • Strong document control and administrative skills.

Desirable:

  • Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Management experience in Civil Engineering projects.
  • SSSTS / SMSTS qualifications.
