Purpose of the Role:
The Purchasing Assistant will work alongside the purchasing and procurement team in maintaining and maximising our competitive supply chain and supplier relationships. This role reports to the Purchasing Manager, liaises with internal department and suppliers and is key to ensuring effective purchasing in line with the busy pace of a factory environment.
Main Responsibilities
• To assist the Purchasing Manager with the administrative tasks associated with the purchasing of components & materials for the business.
• Send out project enquiries, obtain timely quotes and share with the bid team.
• Placement of purchase orders for stock items from replenishment lists
• Challenge any stock min/max levels assisting improved availability and no stock outs.
• Ensure all End of Project orders are checked, agreed, and delivered in a timely manner.
• Placing any Purchase Orders for the QR (Quarantine) system for missing, faulty, or damaged components &materials.
• Sourcing alternative products at competitive rates.
• To carry out tasks which contribute to the sourcing of the required products and materials in the most cost effective, timely and efficient way for OSS and its clients.
• Coordinate with the Purchasing Manager in any & all areas of crossover between Procurement & Purchasing.
• To carry out assorted/ad-hoc task as directed by the Purchasing Manager.
• Price increases to be challenged and recorded.
• Potential savings to be identified.
Essential Skills/Knowledge
• Good knowledge of MS Outlook applications including Excel, Power Point, Word, and Microsoft office.
• Ability to develop internal and external relationships and communicate clearly and effectively with all stakeholders.
• Able to work well under pressure, prioritise work accordingly and have the ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, in a dynamic fast paced environment.
• Have a driven, inquisitive, and tenacious mindset with good problem-solving skills.
Desirable Skills/Knowledge
• Experience of working within a Purchasing environment
• A confident commercially aware individual.
• Sage experience ideal but not essential, training will be provided.
• Clear written and verbal communicator/presenter. I
• Inquisitive and tenacious with good problem-solving skills.
• Organised and efficient and good team player.
• Sets high standards at all times and acts in a moral and ethical manner.
